What is FileMaker?

FileMaker is a versatile integrated database application platform developed by Claris International, a subsidiary of Apple Inc. It combines a powerful relational database engine with an easy-to-use graphical user interface.

What does it do?

It allows users to create custom data-based applications to meet their specific and unique business needs.

These are some of its key features:

  1. Cross-Platform: Available on macOS, Windows, iOS, and web browsers.
  2. Integration: Connects with various data sources, including SQL databases, Excel files, and other external systems.
  3. Automation: Built-in scripting language for automating tasks and workflows.
  4. Security: Robust security features, including user authentication and data encryption.
  5. Collaboration: Multiple users can access and work on the same database simultaneously, making it ideal for team projects and business environments.
  6. Scalability: Suitable for both small and large-scale applications.
  7. Customization: Users can build custom apps tailored to specific business needs, including inventory management, customer relationship management (CRM), project tracking, and more.
  8. Deployment: Applications created in FileMaker can be deployed on-premises or in the cloud, with options for server hosting to support more extensive databases and multi-user environments.

Why do we use it?

Our client base is very wide.

Ranging from single individuals to large corporations.

Their situations can be varied and often unique. However, their needs are not.

They are all looking for solutions to help them overcome workflow or productivity issues.

Workflow and productivity solutions are what we do.

It does not aim to be super fast or super efficient. It just aims to be super useful.

In all our solutions at JD-Data, we strive to meet three core goals:

  1. To allow our clients to be more productive, effective, and efficient in achieving their objectives.
  2. To help them save time, money, and effort in the process.
  3. To give them the freedom to be themselves. To explore and pursue opportunities.

All these goals are “user-centric”.

From our perspective, FileMaker is an unashamedly “user-centric” product.
